Remember that internal hemroids develop from swelling of internal hemorrhoidal veins and originate above the dentate line which demarcates the transition of the anal skin to the rectal mucosa, while external hemroids develop from swelling of external hemorrhoidal veins and originate below the dentate line.
Sometimes, internal hemroids develop and become prolapsed through the anus to the outside where they are called prolapsed internal hemroids which may be confused with external hemroids.
